Staying Warm

Dear you, reading this,

This blog seems to serve best as stark reminders of where I am at a certain place and time. I've become a news junkie. All day long I read the news and absorb all the stuff that's going on. With that in mind here is what the news has taught me.

My voice has already been heard.

Any one can spew their opinions all over the place. I was lucky to be born a white dude in America. It's so awesome, Lil Dicky felt the need to write a song about it. That being said there are plenty of white dudes who are saying exactly who are saying what I want to say which is...

I don't know how to get better

and the news won't tell me.

Sexual harassment and assault has been in the news a lot lately. That's not the set up to a joke. How are you supposed to resolve your past behavior? Plenty of parishioners are perfectly content to dump their regresses in God's ear and say that's that; however, in God's absence who pardons you? Does that judgement fall back on the state or public opinion? What if there's no public to give you an opinion? How do you reconcile this with the fact that anything placing judgement upon you will have an incomplete knowledge in the absence of an all knowing creator? Some might dismiss these as high school stoner thoughts, but I'm talking about real life. If the spotlight falls on you, what are they going to find out? If you write down some sort of confessional, is it anything more than exploiting the ones who were part of these experiences?

Anyone who's been in A.A. long enough will tell you the best way to go about this is to make a list of all the people you've wronged, approach them with a sincere wish to mend any pain you caused, apologize, and offer to make amends.  If you can redeem yourself in their eyes, then they can defend you if the public eye ever falls on your past scandals. It says something quite negative of a person when they bribe someone to keep quite. You might be called upon to speak about anything you've done. Speaking about negative things...

We Are Creating Supervillians

Why are we talking about people this way? School shooters are kids with guns. Heads of state are just people we gave power. If they suck at it, just get them out of there. South Africa did it. Just remember that violent revolution always has an infrastructure cost that often leads to some economic destabilizing that usually leads to a power vacuum often filled by the kinds of leaders you oust. We need evolution, not revolution. You may think that's easy for me to say as a white guy typing at his computer and you are absolutely right. I'm content to stand to the side and be an extra in this crazy mess. If you have a protest or something, I make a great face in the crowd, but when bullets start flying I don't want to be a body on the ground. It's time to settle down and that's awesome because...

Apparently, Mutants Will Stop Them.

Hear me out. Often times people wish for a new messiah or super hero. What we're getting instead is much closer to X-men than The Avengers or Justice League. Every day someone becomes significant. It may be because of a talent or maybe just a freak happenstance but, suddenly people are given today's most prized superpower, a platform. The more people use those platforms to make life better for everyone, the better it actually gets. It has happened throughout history. Hopefully it's happening again. With that being said...

Thank you for Making the voice Louder

This is awesome that people are standing up for change. I hope to stand beside you. If there's anything anyone needs let me know.

As always, thank you for reading
